High Blood Sugar / Diabetes

Diabetes is a complex disease with several causes. The body needs to create insulin to break down sugars (Glucose) in the blood that it uses for energy.

Diabetes messes up this process by either reducing the production of insulin (Diabetes Type 1) or by not allowing the insulin to be used as needed by the cells (Diabetes Type 2). The result is an abnormal amount of sugar circulating in the body causing damage to the blood vessels and organs.

If you have Diabetes, it is very important for it to be controlled. If you don't know if you have it, ask your doctor to check during your next visit.
