Our Mission
The Barbershop Blood Pressure program gives automatic blood pressure monitors to Barbershops and Hair Salons free of charge, so they can screen their clients and themselves for High Blood Pressure and A Fib. We also provide heart healthy education resources, and connections to local health clinics to help prevent serious health problems such as a heart attack and stroke.
About Us
Hi, I am Steve, the nurse who started the Barbershop Blood Pressure program. I've taken care of hundreds of people with heart attacks and strokes in Emergency Departments and Cardiac Cath Labs.
My father died in his 50s. He was a wonderful person, but smoked, drank, and did not take care of himself. I have also had A Fib and a stroke myself. These life events helped inspire me to create the BBP program.
My goal is to open the door for YOU to have a healthier and happier life, and not end up in a hospital or morgue too soon. Preventing these serious problems is much better than trying to fix them.
